Community Outreach


Continual Opportunities

  • Aluminum soda can recycling – proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity.  Use the white box in the Sunday School wing.
  • Downtown Daily Bread – serve meals twice a month
  • Food Donations – use the bin in the Gathering Area
  • Giant Gift Cards – proceeds help fund mission trips (contact Bob Bell)
  • Lend A Hand – Mission trips coordinated by the Presbytery of Carlisle
  • Local Benevolence – monetary contributions designated to Local Benevolence will be used at the direction of the Mission Committee to provide assistance to local groups or individuals.
  • Meals on Wheels – 3rd Wednesday of the month prepare desserts to accompany meals (contact Pat Heintzelman)
  • New Hope Ministries – donate food, toiletries, and time.
  • Operation Paperback – use the bin in the Gathering Area.
  • Operation Wildcat – donate furniture
  • Presby Peelers – groups of 7 prepare food for Cumberland Visa weekly June – November and monthly January – May. (contact Renee Breen)
  • Ronald McDonald House – collect aluminum can tabs to help with utility expenses.  Use the big jug in the Gathering Area.
  • Stop the Violence – donations of food, clothing, and school supplies; help with the Christmas party, pack holiday meals.  
  • Toiletries – unused travel soap, shampoo, body wash etc are given to Ronald McDonald House, Carlisle Truckstop Ministries, and the Ecumenical Food Pantry.  Use the bin in the Gathering Area.

Special Offerings


  • Adopt A Highway – 2 mile section of Rt 114
  • Alternative Gifts – Christmas – Monetary donations to our mission organizations in honor or memory of a loved one.
  • Blood Drive at MPC – Bloodmobile of Central PA Blood Bank
  • Christmas Cards, Greeting Cards, & Calendars Collection – new or unused cards and calendars for use by prison inmates.
  • Community Dinners
  • CROP Hunger Walk
  • Giving Tree – Christmas gifts for local organizations
  • Harrisburg Senators Ball Game – one a year event.  Proceeds from this event are provided to organizations identified by the Mission Committee.
  • Kid Friendly Food Drive – food to New Hope Ministries and Stop the Violence to offset greater demand for food in the summer months when school meals are not available.
  • Krislund Camp – Rock the Camp – PYC
  • Mission Trips – Adult, confirmands, PYC
  • More People Caring Sunday
  • Operation Wildcat – Student school supplies for Mechanicsburg Area School District
  • Paper Products Drive – September collection goes to CROSS (Christian Residential Opportunities and Social Services)
  • Parade of Animals – Easter and Christmas – sale of handmade stuffed animals.  Proceeds go to Stop the Violence.
  • Presbyterian Homes – Supply Christmas gifts and send birthday cards to residents
  • PYC Cookie Bake – for college students
  • Rummage Sale – PW – April and October – proceeds go to mission
  • Souper Bowl of Caring
  • Tree of Warmth – Gloves, mittens, scarves and hats for local organizations
  • Truck Stop Ministry – Baked Christmas cookies for drivers
