The Reverend Kathryn Z. Johnston

The Reverend Kathryn Z. Johnston began serving with the congregation of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church as Senior Pastor/Head of Staff in March, 2009.  Ordained in 2001, Reverend Johnston previously served as Solo Pastor at Dickinson Presbyterian Church, Carlisle, PA. She has a passion for proclaiming the Word of God and seeks to nurture God’s beloved children in all stages of their faith.  A graduate of Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, Kathryn earned her M.Div. at Princeton Seminary in Princeton, New Jersey (2000); her home state.  Reverend Johnston is married to the Reverend Martha K. Spong.  Together they have four children (3 ‘adulting’ out in the world, 1 in middle school), 2 cats and a lively lab mix named Teddy.

The Reverend Mark A. Allio

Mark-3-16The Reverend Mark A. Allio is our Associate Pastor for Youth and Young Adults.  He grew up in Clarion, PA and attended Clarion University.  He followed a call in Youth Ministry by serving as Director of Youth and Families at First Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, AK for three years.  He returned to Pennsylvania to attend Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and graduated in May 2011.  His family includes his wife Carrie and sons Asher, Gage and Hank.

Mark McKeever

Mark McKeever is the Director of Music and Organist.  He joined the MPC staff on May 1, 2017.  He grew up in the Philadelphia area and received his Bachelor of Arts in Music from Westminster Choir College in 2000.  Mark has over twenty years experience as a conductor, keyboard and woodwind artist, and a vocalist.  Mark, his wife Jessica and daughter Braelyn moved here from Camdem NJ.  Mark is also a certified golf instructor.

Connie J. Sutton

Connie J. SuttonConnie J. Sutton is the Administrative Assistant for MPC and began serving in 1976.  She grew up in Mechanicsburg and graduated from Mechanicsburg Area Senior High School and Goldey Beacom Junior College at Wilmington, DE.  She and her husband, Herb, have one son, Jeff, who resides in Los Angeles, CA.  Connie’s joys include gardening, the outdoors and watching movies.

Jennifer Arndt

Jennifer ArndtJennifer Arndt is the Office Manager and has worked at MPC since April, 2006.  Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, she is a 1998 graduate of King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, PA.  Jennifer and her husband, John, married in August, 2000, and have two children, Ethan and Olivia.  In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family.

Don Hopper

Don HopperDon Hopper has been the church Treasurer since 1980.  Don received a B.A. in Economics and Accounting from Westminster College, New Wilmington, PA.  Don’s corporate career was with Verizon’s accounting and data processing department.  After many transfers, he and his family settled in the Central PA area.  He and his wife, Ginny, both enjoy traveling, their home, and meeting new people.  They are also active in community organizations.  Don and Ginny have two grown children, Jeff and Jodi.

Karen Taylor

web-Karen-TaylorKaren is our Director of Playful Beginnings Preschool.  She grew up in Carlisle and attended Second Presbyterian Church.  After graduation from the University of Delaware, she returned to the area with her husband, Allen.  They have two children: Kathleen, who studies at Temple University, and Adam, a recent graduate of Cedar Cliff High School.  Karen is active in her home church and community.  She enjoys her husband’s cooking, reading a good thriller, and not weeding.  She thinks there is always something better to do than weeding.

Te’a Whitten

Te’a is our new custodian at Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church. She grew up in the surrounding area and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, exploring unmarked trails, and four-wheeling as well as spending time with her younger sisters and family. Te’a is furthering her education at HACC Harrisburg Campus for her Early Care and Education Associates degree. Once she graduates she hopes to begin teaching preschool.
