Mission Trip to Huntington WV – May 2017

Members and friends of the Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church participated in their ninth annual mission trip to Habitat for Humanity (HFH) in Huntington, West Virginia.  This year’s project was a little different.  Normally they work on homes being built by HFH.  However, this year Habitat’s Restore was in need of renovations.  Many affiliates of Habitat for Humanity have “Restores,” which receive donations of furniture, appliances, and other household goods, and then resell these items to help fund another Habitat home.  The Huntington Habitat for Humanity Restore was closed for the week, and volunteers and employees of Habitat worked on the much-needed renovations.  The group from Mechanicsburg worked on putting new siding on the inside of the store, on painting areas with dry wall, and on preparing the parking lot to be repaved.  The Restore reopened on Monday, May 22.
